Salsa Lessons – Level 1 (Beginner Fundamentals) This five week course is where it all begins for the beginner salsa dance enthusiast. No prior dance experience is expected or needed. In these dance classes the student, male and female, will learn the fundamental principles of partnering, dance floor etiquette, timing, basic foot work, full and half turns, ‘cross body lead’, and useful salsa dance patterns. Salsa Lessons – Level 2 (Intermediate): Levels 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E Level 2 is for students who have completed the ‘fundamentals’ course or for those who have a secure grasp of the basic elements of salsa and partnered dancing. At Level 2, the salsa student will continue to build on movement learned and completed at the previous ‘beginner fundamentals’ salsa classes. Level 2 has five sections: A, B, C, D & E. In each of these sections, new variations, new footwork/steps and salsa turn patterns will be taught. A variety of new combinations and sequences will be created that will enhance memory, continue development of technique, and reinforce timing principles and partnering skills. As well, throughout the 5 sessions at this level, Cumbia style salsa will be introduced. At the completion of Levels 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E the student will be ready to go on to Level 3, confident and armed with a full repertoire of salsa dance movement. Salsa Lessons – Level 3 (Advanced): Levels 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D & 3E Level 3 salsa lessons are for the dance student who has completed the Fundamentals level and the five Level 2 courses or for the dancer who has a firm grasp of salsa technique at the Level 2 level. Level 3 has five sections: 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D & 3E. In each of the Level 3 sections, new and challenging combinations will be taught along with increased importance placed on turn patterns and behind-the-back work. Additionally, more emphasis will be placed the dancer’s ability to link together combinations with ease, style and control. As well, there will be on-going emphasis placed on the continued development of good timing technique, added development of partnering skills, lead and follow, and floor craft (‘dance floor etiquette’). There will also be further development of the Cumbia style salsa.
All classes must be cancelled 24 hours prior to class starting.
